Adding attachments to e-mails

A question we are asked regularly at Genkgo is how to include attachments to an e-mail in the Communication. Although it is not possible to directly add an attachment the way this is done in your e-mail programs, there is a simple way to do this. You can upload the file to the Files Application and add this file to the e-mail by means of a link, where you select a file instead of a web page. Follow the steps below:

Step 1. Upload file to Files Application

Make sure that the file you want to attatch is uploaded to the Files Application. Learn how to upload files to the Files Application.

Step 2. Create a new column

We recommend to create a new column (Step 4) and title it ‘Attachments’. In this message, you can place the text, e.g. ‘Click here to download the file’ or ‘file.2019.pdf’.

Step 3. Create a link

  1. Select the written text.
  2. Click on the button 'link' with the icon of two links connected.
  3. Click on 'browse' or 'browse server'.
You are redirected to the Files Application.
Navigate to the file you want to attach to the e-mail. Select this file and click on 'choose this file'. Then click on 'OK'.

The pop-up disappears and the text you wrote in step 2 is now a link to the file. When a recipient clicks on this link, the file will be downloaded to their computer.
