Step 2: Beneficiaries

The functionality to send text messages with the Communication Application is designed to be able to send messages on large scale. This is why you can add not only individuals from the Organization as beneficiaries, but also companies, folders, groups and dynamic groups.

  • Selecting beneficiaries
  • My messages are not being delivered
  • Changes in beneficiaries list

Selecting beneficiaries

Click on ‘Group or folder’ if you want to add a folder or group from the Organization as beneficiaries. Click on ‘Individual’ if you want to add individuals.

Adding a group or folder

  1. Behind ‘Type’, indicate whether the folder or group should be added as beneficiaries or excluded from the beneficiaries (in which case the selected folder/group will not receive the message).
  2. Select the correct group or folder in the Organization tree. You can unfold folders by clicking on the plus sign on the left side.
  3. Click ‘save’.

Adding individuals

  1. Behind ‘Search in Organization’, type the name of the person you want to add as beneficiary. A list of suggestions will appear. Select the correct person.
  2. Behind ‘Type’, indicate whether the individual should be added as beneficiary or excluded from the beneficiaries (in which case the selected individual will not receive the message).
  3. Click ‘save’.

The beneficiaries have been saved and are displayed in a table. The table shows whether beneficiaries are added or excluded. You can delete beneficiaries by clicking the  on the right side.

If you want to add multiple beneficiaries, repeat the steps above until all beneficiaries have been added. Then click ‘next’ to go to step 3.

Someone included in the beneficiaries doesn’t receive my messages

To receive text messages from Communication, it is necessary that a person meets the following requirements:

  1. A valid phone number: If you are sending a text message to someone outside the Netherlands, the number needs to be preceded by 00 or + and the country code. The Genkgo SMS service only works in Europe.
  2. Subscribed to the subscription selected in Step 1.
  3. Included in an element chosen in Step 2.

What happens if the list of beneficiaries grows or shrinks?

After finishing Step 5, the SMS is moved to the Outbox. It is possible that the list of beneficiaries changed between that moment and the moment of sending. For example, this could happen when the text message will be send at a later moment in the future.

Between preparing the message for sending and the actual sending, a profile in the Organization could be changed and cause it to suddenly meet the requirements mentioned above. In a case like this, the credits will be written off. This can result in a negative amount on your balance. Of course, this may occur vice versa when less text messages need to be sent instead of more, for example when a person unsubscribes for text messages between the moment the SMS is placed in the outbox and the actual moment of sending. In that case, the credits for the messages not sent will not be written off.
