Abstract Module
The Abstract module is an extension of the Events Application. This module was created specifically for academic or scientific events. During these kind of events, academics will often present their research papers. With the Abstract Module, abstracts of papers or other documents can be submitted for revision. Designated assessors can then evaluate and score the abstracts via a special assessing page on the website. Based on the scores, you can then make a selection of the persons who can present their paper during the event.
NB! This module can only be used in combination with the Program Module.
New type of event
When the Abstract module is implemented into your system, a new type of event is added to the Events Application. This is the type ‘Scientific course’. The Events tree of this event will not only contain the elements ‘Registrations’, ‘Configuration’ and ‘Program’, but the element ‘Abstract review’ as well.
The Events tree
The element ‘Abstract review’ in the Events tree looks as follows:
Create scientific course
To create a new scientific course, go to the Events Application and click on ‘ New’ in the toolbar and then on ‘New scientific course’. Then enter the title of the event, the organizer and the input language. When you click on ‘save’, you will be redirected back to the events page. You can now click on the newly created event and start the configuration.
It is essential to finish setting up the elements ‘Configuration’ and ‘Program’ before you start with the element ‘Abstract review’.
Submitting and reviewing abstracts on the website
Abstracts can only be submitted and assessed via the website and not in the admin. However, it is possible to add abstracts in name of others via the admin. Genkgo will add the correct pages for submitting and assessing abstracts to the website.
The following articles discuss how to use the Abstract module in the Events Application (admin).
