Create a discount code

Go to ‘Create’ and click on ‘Discount code’. Enter the code that you want to use. This can be a word, but also a numeric code or a combination of letters and numbers. Then enter the invoice line of the discount. This is the line that will appear on the invoice indicating that this discount applies.

Click on ‘Validity’. Here you can indicate the period in which the discount code is valid by entering a start date and an end date. You can also set a maximum to the amount of times the discount code can be used. If you leave this field empty, the code can be used an unlimited amount of times.

Only the fields ‘Code’ and ‘Invoice line’ are mandatory in this screen.

Click ‘save’ to confirm after you have entered all necessary information.

Configuring the discount code

The discount code you created will appear in the overview. You need to make further settings before the code can be used on the website. Click on the name of the discount code. Then click on ‘Create’ in the toolbar to determine to which ticket option the discount code applies. You will then see a screen where you can enter the discount that applies to one specific ticket option.

A discount code can apply to multiple ticket options. Each ticket option can have its own discount amount or percentage. It is even possible to make certain ticket options mandatory for the discount code to apply. Let’s take the example of an event of multiple days with a ticket option for each day. We want to give a discount of 10% for each ticket option, but only if at least the ticket option for day 1 is included in the order. When someone orders the ticket option for day 1 and other ticket options as well, he will receive a discount of 10% over all ticket options he orders. If he orders only tickets for the second and third day, the discount won’t apply, because the ticket option day 1 is mandatory for the discount code.

  1. Under ‘Discount applies to’, indicate the ticket option to which the discount code applies.
  2. If another discount (e.g. a combination discount) applies to this ticket option as well, you can select the option ‘Don’t apply discount if another discount applies to this product’. This will prevent double discounts when the discount code is used.
  3. Under ‘Discount’, indicate how much discount will be given on the selected ticket option if the code is used. You can enter an amount and a percentage, and at least one of the fields needs to be filled out (you can also enter 0). It is also possible to add both: the percentage of discount will be based on the original price of the ticket option.
  4. Click on ‘save’. The ticket option will appear in the overview.

Repeat these steps until you have added all ticket options and their discounts.

After adding all ticket options and their discounts to the discount code, it is possible to make one or more ticket options mandatory for the discount code. This means that the discount code only applies when at least the mandatory ticket options are included in the order.

Click on the name of the ticket option that you want to make mandatory. Select the field ‘mandatory ticket option’. Click on ‘save’. Repeat for all mandatory ticket options.

To delete a ticket option from a discount code, click on – on the right side of the ticket option in the overview. Then click on ‘delete’ to confirm, or on ‘Back’ to cancel.
