Create bundle discount
Combination discount is a great option for creating one combination of ticket options and configuring this. If you want to create multiple combinations of ticket options, of which certain ticket options are automatically mandatory, you can use the option ‘Bundle discount’. A bundle discount is much like a combination discount, but has more elaborate possibilities.
Combination discount makes one combination of ticket options. If you want to make certain ticket options mandatory, this has to be done after creating the combination. A bundle discount allows to make multiple combinations at the same time.
In the general overview of discounts, click on ‘Bundle discount’ under ‘Create’. Under ‘Discount’, enter then name of the discount. Then indicate how much discount per ticket option should be given. You can enter an amount and a percentage. At least one of these fields have to be filled in. It is also possible to fill in both. The percentage will be calculated based on the original price of the ticket option. You can always go back and change the discount.
In the next element, each available ticket option is a field with a drop-down menu. The drop-down menu contains all other ticket options. By selecting a ticket option in the drop-down menu, that ticket option is added to the bundle. The ticket option forming the field is the mandatory ticket option, and the ticket options you choose in the drop-down menu are optional. This way, you can create a different combination with each ticket option in one screen. After saving, the combinations will appear separately in the general overview and can be further configured.
Important! When you are creating multiple combination discounts with the same ticket options, double discount may be given on certain ticket options. You can prevent this from happening by selecting ‘Don’t apply discount if other discounts apply’. This makes sure that each ticket option gets no more than one set discount.
Example
You are organizing a three-day event. You’re offering the ticket options Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Monday consists mostly of presentations and has a capacity for 200 participants. Tuesday and Wednesday both consist of the same program: workshops. However, the capacity for these two days is only 100 participants. It is not relevant for participants to attend both Tuesday and Wednesday, because the programs are identical.
You want to give discount when a participant attends Monday and Tuesday or Monday and Wednesday.
How do you create this discount with a bundle discount? Under ‘Which bundling creates discount?’, you see all available ticket options listed. Behind each ticket option is a drop-down menu containing all other available ticket options. By selecting ticket options in the drop-down menu, they are combined with the ticket option that forms the field: the mandatory ticket option.
In this case, the mandatory ticket option should be Monday: this ticket option must be included in the order to receive discount. The discount should be given when Monday is combined with Tuesday and/or Wednesday. Click on the drop-down menu behind ‘Monday’. Select ‘Tuesday’ and ‘Wednesday’.
Suppose that the specified discount is 10 euros per ticket option. The discount will be calculated as follows: if Monday is ordered together with one other ticket option, both ticket options get the specified discount (20 euro’s in total). If all three ticket options are ordered, all three ticket options get the specified discount (30 euro’s in total). If Monday is the only ticket option in an order, or when Tuesday and/or Wednesday is ordered without Monday, no discount is given.
- After the bundles have been put together, you need to enter an invoice line. You can later change the invoice line for each bundle.
- Under ‘Validity’, you can link the discount to a reservation period in the field ‘Only in reservation period’. This option will also link the discount to the group of the reservation period, as specified in the list of reservation periods you can choose from. It is also possible to manually enter the begin date and end date of the discount. Lastly, you can enter the maximum amount of times that the discount can be used. The fields under ‘Validity’ are not mandatory.
Click ‘save’ to create the bundle discount.
