Create combination discount
Instead of a discount code, you can create a discount that will apply automatically when a user orders the right combination of ticket options. The user does not need to enter a code to get the discount.
Tip: if you want to create multiple combination discounts, it may be more convenient to use the option ‘Bundle discount’. Bundle discounts allow to create multiple combinations at the same time. Read more about this in the article on bundle discounts.
Click on ‘Combination discount’ under ‘Create’ in the toolbar. Enter the name of the combination discount. Then enter the discount that will be given. You can choose for an amount or a percentage. At least one of those fields has to be filled out, but it is also possible to enter both options. The chosen discount will be divided in proportion over the ticket options that are part of the combination. You can always change the discount later on. Behind ‘Combination’, select all ticket options to which this discount applies. At least two ticket options have to be selected.
Important! When you are creating multiple combination discounts with the same ticket options, double discount may be given on certain ticket options. You can prevent this from happening by selecting ‘Don’t apply discount if other discounts apply’. This makes sure that each ticket option gets no more than one set discount.
Enter the invoice line that should appear on the invoice, indicating the combination discount. Under ‘Validity’, you can link the discount to a reservation period in the field ‘Only in reservation period’. This option will link the discount to the group of the reservation period at the same time. It is also possible to manually enter the begin date and end date of the discount. Lastly, you can enter the maximum amount of times that the discount can be used. The fields under ‘Validity’ are not mandatory.
Click on ‘save’ to create the combination discount.
Configuring the combination discount
The combination discount you created appears in the general overview of discounts. You can still further configure the combination discount. To do this, click on the name of the discount.
You will then see an overview of the ticket options that are included in the combination discount. After creating the combination discount, the discount you specified is divided in proportion over the added ticket options. You can edit the discount per ticket option by clicking on the name of the ticket option. You can then change the chosen ticket option, in case the combination of ticket options has to be changed. Then, you can edit the percentage and/or amount of discount under ‘Discount’.
During configuration, you can also add an extra ticket option. To do this, click on ‘Add’ in the toolbar. Select the right ticket option, indicate whether the ticket option is mandatory and indicate the amount and/or percentage of discount. Click ‘save’ to add the ticket option to the combination discount.
After adding all ticket options to the combination discount, you can go back to each ticket option and make adjustments. By making some ticket option mandatory and others optional, you can make the discount possibilities more specific. For example: you’re organizing an event with three ticket options: Lunch, Drinks, and Dinner. The combination discount should only apply if at least Lunch (15% discount) and Dinner (€5 discount) are both included in the order. These ticket options are mandatory. Furhtermore, an extra discount of 10% is given on the ticket option for Drinks if this is included as well, but this is optional. This is how you can make the necessary adjustments:
In the overview of tickets, you click on the ticket option Lunch, then select ‘Mandatory ticket option’ and adjust the discount to 15%. Save this and go to the ticket option for Dinner. Select ‘Mandatory ticket option’ here as well, and adjust the discount to €5. Save this, then go to the ticket option for Drinks and adjust the discount to 10%. The ticket option for Drinks is not mandatory.
Now, is someone orders only the tickets for Drinks and Dinner, no discount is given because not all mandatory ticket options are included in the order. When all ticket options are ordered, discount is given on all three tickets options.
