What are the dimensions of images on the website?
A common question we get is to provide the exact dimensions of the images on the website. Our websites are responsive. This means that the website, including the images, adapts to the size of the screen on which the website is being displayed. Therefor, images have different dimensions on different devices and screens. For that reason, we cannot provide advice on the dimensions of images, but only about the proportion of images in standard modules on template websites. Images on websites with a custom design also have custom proportions, so we can’t provide advice about this.
The quality of images
Make sure that the images you use have sufficient quality. This will result in clean, crisp images on your website. However, the quality doesn’t need to be too high. Generally, we advice to use images of max. 600 x 400 pixels.
Slider image on all websites
The slider is the module with the large image and a text box under the header on the homepage. The slider doesn’t have standard dimensions or proportions, because both automatically adapt when the size of the screen increases or decreases. You can try this out by making your browser screen bigger and smaller.
Thus, images in the slider will be cropped in various ways to fit different screen sizes. For that reason, we recommend that you only use atmospheric images for the slider. Never use images with text or groups of people as cropping can cause persons and parts of texts to be cut off.
Standard proportions on Template websites
Some images on the homepage of template websites have standard proportions. The forms of the images have name that can be found on our demo website. The proportions are expressed in width/hight.
- Card: 3/2 - Note: These are the proportions when there is a title and subtitle of 1 line each. If there is more text, the image will be cropped from the bottom.
- Flag: 1/1
- Image box: 4/3
- Avatar (logged in person): 1/1
