Highlight Feed
The Highlight Feed focuses on images and integration with other applications. This feed can be used to post announcements from your organization, allowing interaction with these announcements. Depending on the age of your website, a Highlight Feed can be placed on the website and is already available in the app and on the admin dashboard.
The Highlight Feed is an endless scroll page filled with highlights that allow members of your organization to quickly get up to date with what is going on in your organization. A highlight is a reference to a piece of content on your website, such as an event, photo folder, or news item, but can also be a standalone message. In this way, the Highlight Feed is a means of prioritizing what your members see.
In the Organization application, the only setting that can be determined for the Highlight Feed is that it no longer needs to be displayed on the dashboard. The content of the Highlight Feed is entirely determined on the dashboard in the admin site and in the Highlight Feed in the app itself.
Publishing a highlight
Highlights can be added to the dashboard in the admin and to the Highlight Feed in the app by administrators with write permissions in the Organization application. This can be done by clicking on the large plus sign here. There are roughly two options when adding a highlight:
- Create your own highlight
- Add a suggestion
When the ‘Suggestions’ option is selected, several suggestions are displayed based on existing content that can be referenced in the highlight. This could be an event, a photo album, or a news item. When one of these suggested items is selected, all information will be filled in automatically. When ‘Create’ is selected, all information must be entered manually. The following options are available:
- Adding an image.
- Adding a color overlay to this image. This overlay will be displayed in your organization's corporate color.
- Adding a title and subtitle.
- These titles can be hidden, for example, if a poster has been added as an image.
- Adding text under ‘Content’.
- Adding a URL, which is referenced in the highlight.
- The recipient can be specified. This allows you to determine whether the message will also be posted in the public feed. It is relevant here whether the app settings specify whether highlights can be posted in the public environment. In addition, it is possible to indicate whether the highlight may be viewed by logged-in users. One of these options must be selected.
- Enabling comments on the highlight. This option is enabled by default. In the case of a photo album or news item, for example, the comments will run parallel to the comments on this content itself.
- Sending a push notification for this highlight immediately.
Clicking ‘Publish’ will publish the highlight immediately.
It is also possible to send a push notification afterwards by selecting a highlight as an administrator, clicking on the drop-down symbol, and clicking ‘Send notification’. Here, it is also possible to edit or delete the highlight. In addition, it is also possible to delete or change posted comments by selecting one of these options after clicking on the drop-down symbol next to the relevant comment.
