Password requirements
Passwords in the Genkgo system are bound to some requirements. Many websites choose to clearly indicate all requirements. Genkgo did not choose this. There are multiple ways to meet the requirements for passwords in our system.
- Use more characters
- Use capital letters as well as lowercase letters.
- Use numbers as well as letters
- Use symbols
These are the reasons Genkgo tolerates multiple types of complexity in passwords:
- Fixed requirements do not ensure the security of the password. Entropy and generating possible combinations are factors in the security of passwords. It is possible that four random consecutive words form a more secure password that is harder to crack than a password with 10 characters containing capital letters, lowercase letters and numbers.
- Fixed requirements are inconvenient for people using a Password Manager.
- The verification of passwords will become more dynamic in the future. In the future, this will depend on much more than only characters. Consider the following possibilities:
- Passwords cannot contain the name of the website or name of the user.
- In the future, passwords will be compared to a database of previously cracked passwords.
