Addresses
In some cases, it may be convenient to be able to enter multiple types of addresses for different object types. For example, companies often have different post addresses and invoice addresses, and for members, only a home address is important. Under ‘Settings’ → ‘Addresses’ in the Organization tree, you can manage address types. For each object type, (e.g. company or member), you can set which addresses are relevant for the administration and which information is required per address type.
Address types that you create here appear in the profile of objects. For each object, you can see at a glance which address is used for what.
Create an address type
To create a new address type, go to ‘Settings’ → ‘Addresses’ in the Organization tree. There you can see for which object types you can create address types.
To create a new address type, click on ‘Add’ in the toolbar. Behind ‘Type’, choose the type of address (e.g. postal address, visiting address, invoice address). In the case the type ‘invoice address’ is used, it will automatically be used in the Applications Events, Financial and Webshop. In case the type ‘post address’ is used, it will automatically be used in the Communication Application.
Behind ‘Address’, enter which information is required for the address type using placeholders. Placeholders correspond with fields in the Organization, as set in ‘Fields & properties’. In ‘Fields & properties’, you can see which placeholder belongs to which field.
Placeholders need to be placed between double braces (e.g. {{street}} for a street name). An example of the visiting address of a company is:
{{letterhead}}
{{visitstreet}}
{{visitpostalcode}} {{visitcity}}
{{visitcountry}}
The address on the profile will look like this:
VISITING ADDRESS
Genkgo
Entrada 23
1114AA Amsterdam
Nederland
Because of the use of placeholders, the address can be structured exactly the way you prefer. In the example above, the postal code and city are on the same line, but placing them on different lines is possible by simply placing the city on another line.
When all placeholders are added to the correct place in the address field, click ‘Save’. The address type has been created and appears in the overview. The address type will also be placed in all profiles of the object type.
You can create address types this way for all object types.You can also use advanced placeholders. Read more about this here.
