Delivery

In this element, you can manage the delivery methods and the corresponding costs. Delivery methods are the methods in which the customer can receive articles from the webshop, for example by post or by picking it up.

New delivery method

Click on ‘New delivery method’ in the toolbar. Fill in the following fields:

  • Name – Give the delivery method a descriptive name. For yourself and the customer, it has to be clear what it means. An example of a good descriptive name is “Letterbox package” or “PostNL package” (in case you use multiple postal services).
  • Validity – Optionally, you can set an end date for the delivery method. After this date, the delivery method can’t be chosen anymore.
  • Fixed costs – Enter the fixed costs for the deliverymethod. This amount will be payed together with the payment for the ordered products.
  • Variable costs – It is also possible to add a percentage of the costs for the products + possible fixed costs that will be added to the total amount.
  • Confirmation e-mail – After placing the order, the confirmation e-mail from the payment method will be sent to the customer. The text you enter here can be added to the confirmation e-mail with the placeholder {{delivery}}.
  • Shipment e-mail - When processing an order with delivery a shipment e-mail can be send. In this message placeholders like {{order-id}}, {{remark}}, {{product-list}} and {{delivery-address}} can be inserted.
  • Maximum weight in grams – The maximum weight of the delivery method. If the delivery method is for sending by post, the maximum weight per method can be found on the webiste of the postal service you are using.

Click on ‘save’. You can find the delivery method in the overview.

How is the decision for a delivery method made?

In the element ‘Products’, you can add a preferred delivery method to each product. You can also enter the weight per product. Based on the preferred method and the weight of the products, a delivery method will be selected.

Order with one product

  • If a preferred method was set for this product, the customer doesn’t have a choise and the preferred method will be used.
  • If a preferred method was not set for the product, the customer can choose from all delivery method that allow the weight of the product.

Order with multiple products

  • If one product in the order has a preferred method, the system will check whether the combined weight of all products in the order fit the preferred method, If so, the customer doesn’t have a choice and the preferred method will be used. If not, the customer can choose from the delivery methods that fit the combined weight of the products.
  • If two or more products in the order have different preferred methods, the customer can choose from the preferred methods of those products that fit the combined weight of the products in the order.
  • If none of the products in the order have a preferred method, the customer can choose from the delivery methods that fit the combined weight of the products.
