Edit a web page

Always first go to the page you want to edit in the Website Application.

  • Edit page properties
  • Edit page content
  • Move a page
  • Delete a page
  • Make an internal reference

Edit page properties

  1. In the Website tree, go to the page of which you want to edit the properties.
  2. In the toolbar, click on ‘Properties’. You will be redirected to a screen where you can edit the properties of the page.
  • Name – You can adjust the name of the page as it is displayed in the Website Application. If the name is empty, the title will be used.
  • Type – You can also adjust the type of the page. Available options are ‘Page with content’ and ‘Redirect page’. A page with content is a ‘normal’ web page where content can be added. A redirect page is a page that redirects the user to another (external) web page.
  • Title – Enter the title. The title will be displayed on the top of the web page.
  • Menu – You can also adjust the name of the page as it appears in the menu of the website. If you do not enter the name, the page will not appear in the menu.

Tip: The name of the menu item may differ from the title. Usually, there is more room for the title than for the menu item, which is also why the menu item should be as short as possible.

  • Sitemap – If the web page should be indexed in the sitemap, select ‘Sitemap’.
  • A sitemap stages all links withing a website. The sitemap is accessible for search engines. Secured pages will not appear in the sitemap, even if you indicated that they should appear in the sitemap.
  • Language – Here you can select the language of the page. You can choose from the languages available for your website. Select the option ‘Adjust language on subpages as well’ to give all subpages of the currect page the same language.
  • Meta description – The description of a page is only accessible for search engines. You can enter a short description of what the page contains. It is especially important to enter a description if it is important that your website or web page is easy to find with search engines.

Tip: use words that you expect people to use when searching, and keep it short!

  • Page online – If you do not want to publish the page immediately, uncheck the box of ‘page online’. If a page is not available, the title of the page appears in strike through in the Website tree.
  • Begin date and end date –Indicate whether the page should be available from a certain date, until a certain date or within a certain period. If the begin date is empty, the page is directly available. If the end date is empty, the page will be available indefinitely.

Edit the content of a page

  1. In the Website tree, go to the page you want to edit.
  2. Go to the tab that contains the information you want to edit. You can find most of the content in the tab ‘Main section’.
  3. Choose the module of which you want to edit the content. If there is only one module, it is already unfolded.

Move a page

  1. In the Website tree, go to the page you want to move.
  2. In the toolbar, click on ‘Move’ under ‘More options’.
  3. In the Website tree, indicate the new location of the page.
  4. Click on ‘Move’ to confirm.

Delete a page

  1. In the Website tree, go to the page you want to delete.
  2. In the toolbar, click on ‘Delete’ under ‘More options’.
  3. Click on ‘delete’ to confirm or on ‘Back’ to cancel.

Make an internal reference

An internal reference copies the content of the page to another location on the website. The information on internal reference pages is linked to each other. This means that adjustments in the copy will automatically be updated in the original and vice versa.

  1. In the Website tree, go to the page you want to copy.
  2. In the toolbar, click on ‘Internal reference’ under ‘More options’.
  3. In the Website tree, indicate the page under which the copy should be placed.
  4. Click ‘create reference’ to confirm.
