Make hyperlinks to other pages

We recommend to not use ‘click here’ texts if you insert links on your website. It is much better to use text that contains information about the link.

Example:
Don’t: For information about this topic, click here
Do: You can learn more about this topic on our website.

Link to a web page

  1. Select the text that you want to change into a link.
  2. In the toolbar, click on the button for ‘Insert/edit link’. You can recognize the button by the icon of a chain.
  3. Paste the link into the field labeled ‘URL’.

Link to internal page

  1. Select the text that you want to change into a link.
  2. In the toolbar, click on the button for ‘Insert/edit link’. You can recognize the button by the icon of a chain.
  3. Click on ‘Browse server’.
  4. Choose to link to a web page.
  5. In the Website tree that appears, select the intended page.
  6. Click on ‘Choose this page’.

Link to document for download

  1. Select the text you want to change into a link.
  2. In the toolbar, click on the button for ‘Insert/edit link’. You can recognize the button by the icon of a chain.
  3. Click on ‘Browse server’.
  4. Choose to link to a file.
  5. Go to the location of the file and select the intended file.
  6. Click on ‘Choose this file’.

Link to a location on the same page

  1. With your cursor, go to the location on the page to which the link needs to refer.
  2. In the toolbar, click on the button for ‘Internal link’. You can recognize this button by the icon of a flag.
  3. Give the internal link a unique name. This name cannot occur more than once in this page.
  4. Select the text you want to change into a link.
  5. In the toolbar, click on the button for ‘Insert/edit link’. You can recognize the button by the icon of a chain.
  6. As the Link type, choose ‘Internal link on page’ and select the correct internal link.
  7. Click ‘OK’ to confirm.

Delete a link

  1. Select the text with the link you want to delete. You do not need to select the entire text.
  2. In the toolbar, click on the button for ‘‘Delete link’. You can recognize the button by the icon of a chain with a cross.

Make a button

You can also make a link look like a button. Follow the steps below:

  1. Make a link.
  2. Click on ‘save’.
    The page will be renewed but you are still in the text editor.
  3. Click on the text you made into a link.
  4. The toolbar contains two drop-down menus: the second one indicates ‘Styles’ by default. Click on this drop-down menu and select ‘Button’.
  5. Click ‘save’ again.

When you open the web page on your website, you will see that the text is now a button.
