Content of a form
To add content to a form, you need to go to the subpage that contains the form and navigate to the category ‘content’ in the main screen. There are two ways to add content: you can add content manually, or import an existing form.
The content of a form consists of four parts:
- Introduction
- Categories of fields
- Captcha
- Finalization
All created parts are displayed in a table. In this table you can see the title, the relevant page (form or finalization), the type and (part of) the content.
Introduction text
To add an introduction text, click on ‘Introduction’ in the table. You will then see a text editor. The text you add here will appear on the top of the form. When you have typed the text, click on ‘save’. If you do not want to add an introduction text, you can skip this step.
Fields
Add Categories
To add fields to a form, you first need to create categories of fields.
- Click on ‘New category’.
- Behind ‘Title’, enter the name of the category. You can enter some additional information in the text editor.
- Click ‘save’ to confirm. The new category now appears in the table.
You can create multiple categories in one form, e.g.: Personal data, company information, etc. There is no limit for the amount of categories you create.
To edit a category, click on on the right side of the name of the category, and to delete, click on the -.
Add fields
- Click on the category to which you want to add fields.
- Click on ‘New field’.
- Give the field a title. This is the name that appears on the form itself.
- Behind ‘Type’, indicate the type of field it should be. Depending on the type, you will have to enter additional information.
- Indicate if the field is optional or required.
- Enter a suggestion if the field is empty.
- Enter an export label if the field has a long title that is not suitable as a label. When the residual results are downloaded into a spreadsheet, the label becomes the title of a column. In the case of a file, when exporting, the export label becomes the title of the file.
- If you chose the type 'Organization field' (this option is only available if Data processing is activated), you will see the element 'Organization field'. Here you can choose the field from the Organization application that should be linked to the form field. It is also possible to create a hidden field with a predetermined value. Such a field can be used to fill in a specific organization field with a value of your choosing without showing this field to the user who is filling out the form. For example, this can be useful if you have multiple membership types and are using a separate registration form for each type. With a hidden field, you can automatically add the membership type to the organization profile. Select the option 'Hidden field with predetermined value' and enter the value in the field 'Predetermined value'.
Save the field.
You can add an unlimited amount of fields.
To edit a field, click on its title. To delete, click on the right side of the title.
Sort categories and fields
You can change the order in which fields and categories appear in the form. To do this, click on ‘Sort’. Then, drag the fields or categories into their correct order. Click on ‘Save’ to confirm.
Captcha
“Captcha” stands for ‘Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart’. It is a function that checks whether the user is a robot or not. You can add a Captcha to a form to make sure that robots cannot submit in the form. When the Captcha is enabled, a field will be added to the form in which the user is aked to solve a simple math problem. Only when the correct answer is entered can the form be submitted. The form will only have a Captcha when the user opens the form within 120 seconds of opening the website.
Why a math problem?
Because Genkgo doesn’t want to bother users with complicated clicking procedures that other websites use, we decided to ask the user to solve a simple mathematical problem with two numbers below 15. A robot sees the math problem as an image and will need to dispose of image analysis to be able to solve the problem. Because of this, the vast majority of robots on the internet will be put off. The captcha therefore has the very purpose of protecting against these simple robots.
Finalization
The text you enter in ‘finalization’ will appear after a person has filled in and sent the form. To specify this page further, click on ‘enter title’. Then enter a title and enter your text in the text editor. When you are done, click ‘save’.
If you do not want to add a finalization page, you can skip this step.
Import an existing form
Click on ‘Import’ above the table. Select the page with the form you want to import. By importing another form, all content that was added to the form will be overwritten. The results to that form (if any) will also be overwritten.
Select ‘Confirm’ when you are sure that you want to import the other form. Then click ‘import’.
